Unexpected
as unpredicted weathers turn up blind
for us to finish, make themselves and us
what each would be in words if words could say
what we-they are aside from notice, names
a sudden smack of hailstones not forecast
a cold that froze and broke the old rain gauge
that shriveled blossoms roots had mis-implied
return of spring from ruthless spring caprice
its fling with temperatures above, below
the norms we’d set for them by calendar
accustomed smell, an ache in knuckles, knees
the Almanac was wiser, settled for
ambiguous belief, indifferent snore

Some wonderful lines here:
as unpredicted weathers turn up blind
for us to finish, …
they are aside from notice. (!)
the Almanac was wiser, settled for
…indifferent snore
I like the brevity, the slow feel of acceptance.
