Uwe Johnson’s Anniversaries

This huge novel (1719 pages) is my fiction reading for the current year. Written in German in the 1970’s and 80’s, published in German in 4 volumes, has recently been translated into English. It is set in 1967-68, a period that might as well have been fictional. It has been made into a TV series. See reviews here and here.
