poems as hand- and foot-holds on a glass mountain

Assuming the Subjective

Not how to, but how to avoid it
since we seem incapable of avoiding it
or that we always already are subjects
unless and until there are no objects.
Take this itinerant shaft of sunlight
nounless, barely able to support verbs
let alone adverbs
it’s no more an object than that stream
Heraclitus says we can’t step in twice
but Whitehead says not even once
yet we already have, haven’t we?
Evident from reminders of a steaming pile of object
it will take more than ironic questioning
to clean off our shoe.
